The image displayed remind me of the narrator in the story “The Yellow Wallpaper”. In the story, she completely rips up the wallpaper, which signifies her reaching her full hysteric state. With how she is described, I imagine her to look like this. The lady in the picture is popularly known as “Overly Attached Girlfriend”, who is dependent in an extreme way on her significant other, making her unstable. It relates to The Yellow Wallpaper in a way because the narrator is ultimately her husband’s responsibility, as she is sick and in need of his care. Though The Yellow Wallpaper takes place in the past and this image is much more recent, there’s still a connection that shows that dependency taken too far when you’re a mentally ill person can make you appear “crazy”.
